Four Paperclips?

Hiking, birding, and photography recharge me. My favorite photos from this day were of several Bushtits.

The yellow pupils, I’ve learned, mean this one is a female.

Hunting insects.

Bushtit in free fall after extracting and eating an insect caught in a web. (Apologies for the out of focus photo.)

These hyper-active birds eat insects, including aphids, and weigh about as much as … four paperclips.

Some weeks I have to make myself get out and hike with binoculars and camera. I never regret it when I do.
